Brighton College is seeking to appoint Nurses on a zero hour basis

Main purpose of the role: 

The Brighton College Nursing Team are seeking NMC registered Nurses to join our supportive team as Bank School Nurses, to provide cover on an ad hoc basis in the School Health Centres, covering days, evenings, nights and weekends.

The Nursing Team are part of the wider Health and Wellbeing Team across the College, Prep and Pre-Prep Schools supporting the physical, psychological and emotional needs of our pupils from 3 to 18 years of age. The post holders will work within the Brighton College Nursing Team and provide outstanding person-centred and holistic care to the members of the Brighton College community which includes pupils and staff in line with the College and Prep School’s policies and procedures.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Health Centre day to day efficiency:

Working with children, young people and their families to meet the health and wellbeing needs of pupils and also members of staff.

Assessing pupils and staff who attend the Health Centre using professional knowledge, judgment and experience to treat them effectively and holistically.

Night duties:

Continuing to assess and monitor unwell pupils overnight using professional knowledge, judgment and experience to treat them effectively.

Following the standard operating procedures for nights duties.

Professional Skills and Training:

Ensuring nursing validation and relevant qualifications and training are up to date to meet NMC registration requirements.

To be willing to complete Child Protection training and any other training relevant to the school setting.

Communication and Record keeping:

Maintaining medical records accurately, confidentially and safely.

Assisting with compliance checks and documentation.

Health and Safety:

Must always comply with the College’s Health and Safety Policies

Identify risks involved in day to day and report them to the relevant team.

Person Specification:

We are seeking energetic and dynamic nurses who are motivated, diligent, kind, caring and trustworthy and someone who will have the child and young person at the centre of the care they provide. The post requires organisation, attention to detail and initiative to ensure that we are providing effective, quality care to our pupils.??

Key Attributes:

Able to work as an autonomous practitioner as well as the ability to work as part of the wider Nursing and Health and Wellbeing Team.

A professional, flexible and proactive attitude.

The ability to respond calmly, quickly and willingly to urgent and unexpected requests.

Hours of Work:

This is a term time (35 weeks) only appointment on a zero hour basis. The services you provide to the College will be on an ad-hoc basis. This means that whilst the College will try to give you as much notice as possible when offering work, there is no obligation on the part of the College to provide such work nor for you to accept any work offered.
