Job Description

Brighton College Prep School is seeking an Assistant Teacher to start in August 2024. This is a full-time role, working across Key Stages 1 and 2. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Teacher who is fully integrated into the life of the school and Brighton College as a whole. 

Key Responsibilities:

Working closely with the teachers regarding termly and weekly planning, and with other staff to ensure continuity and progression. 

To proactively arrange and set-up learning environments for impactful pupil use, including outdoor learning areas.

Taking responsibility for planning and delivering interventions and assessing pupils.

Assisting specialist teachers in the delivery of the curriculum and school events.

Sharing the responsibility for pastoral care of the children and ensure good personal relationships are fostered between the children themselves and with the staff.

Liaising with the Deputy Head of Learning Support.

Working with the class teachers to create a stimulating learning environment. 

Supporting the teaching team with general organisational duties.

Being prepared to market the school by speaking to prospective parents visiting the classroom, attending Open Mornings/events at the weekend and acting as ambassadors for the school.

To be willing to attend school functions as required.

Safeguarding Responsibilities: 

This role will involve daily contact with pupils, and you will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.

All staff and volunteers have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.

Salary:

Alongside our attractive range of benefits, including free lunches, a salary in the range of £22,580 – £25,580* per annum will be offered, depending on experience. *This does not include any pay award the Governors may make for the coming academic year.

Hours:

7.45am-4.00pm, Monday to Friday inclusive, with a 30-minute unpaid lunchbreak each day. Plus, an additional 5 hours per week for Rockhoppers After School Care Group and an after-school club.

You will also be required to work 5 days during the school holidays for Rockhoppers Holiday Club.
