Job Description

Brighton College is seeking to appoint two Archive Project Team Workers (Fixed Term) to start aproximately 8 July 2024. We anticipate the work will take between three and four weeks. 

The College is working on a project to rationalise the storage of pupil and staff leaver files across the nursery, prep/pre-prep, and senior school. During the summer of 2024, we aim to collect, organise, and rehouse the previous academic years’ pupil and staff leaver files. We will also be preparing some of our historical leaver files for shredding.

Based on the contents of the files, those working on the project will be fully briefed on handling confidential material and adhering to data protection regulations. You will also be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. Flexibility is key.

Hours: 

Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm (or as agreed) with a 60 minute unpaid lunch break (35 hours per week) for approximately three to four weeks.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

With the rest of the team, physically sorting files which will have come from various locations and will be in many boxes;

Reviewing files against existing school data;

Creating an up-to-date catalogue of files sorted;

Updating the catalogues for the previous years’ files;

Packaging the files appropriately, including clear and accurate labelling;

Assisting with the relocation of boxed files to storage and updating the locations spreadsheets;

Reviewing historical files alongside the archivist and helping to designate files that can be shredded;

 Any other reasonable management requests.

Person Specification:

Good organisation and planning skills.

A working knowledge of Excel.

A working knowledge of Word.

An understanding of manual handling – training will be given.

An understanding that this work will include lifting boxes and will involve getting a little dirty!

Remuneration:

£13.56 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay. Complimentary lunch is also provided

Holidays:

Holiday entitlement is included in the hourly pay rate for this role.
