With remote working for the foreseeable future, an exciting greenfield opportunity has arisen for a Senior IT Product Owner with experience of Actuarial systems, to join the Group Finance area of this hugely successful corporate company in Brighton.
The Senior IT Product Owner will manage a newly forming team of 3 other Product Owners, providing them with leadership, coaching & mentoring and will enjoy the opportunity to shape the Product Ownership function.
Core responsibilities for the Senior IT Product Owner include being the SME for the Actuarial systems, with specific experience of Prophet or similar software for Risk Management and Actuarial Modelling being a distinct advantage. Other duties include shaping the product roadmaps, introducing & expanding the use of AGILE as a methodology and ensuring the function delivers value, innovation and in conjunction with the Business Product Owners, improves the infrastructure for the business.
You will lead on technical discussions for the solution and provide advice on the “art of the possible”, whilst ensuring that solutions ensure robust and supportable operational processes.
A key part of the role will be leading and shaping how IT Product Ownership functions, adds value and engages with the business product owners. You will provide thought leadership, and ensure the team has a clear purpose and goals with a defined Customer Charter and strong operating principles.
Leading the team to collaborate and engage with the Business Product Owner/s. Ensuring the appropriate level of challenge is provided to fully understand the key technology aspects, requirements and desires relating to their various product lines, anticipating business need through use of deep market knowledge and technical understanding
Ensure the development and maintenance of Product Roadmaps across the estate, outlining the high-level strategic vision and direction for the product offering over time.
Acting as the key interface between Business Product Owner/s and relevant teams to provide technical vision, direction and support to the Engineering Development Team and associated stakeholders.
Driving Technical Requirements (Functional / Non-Functional), ensuring their validity, robustness and fitness for purpose to ensure optimised performance and solution outcomes in a standard and consistent way.
Constantly assessing, and sharing with stakeholders, industry best practice against internal methodology. Introducing agreed enhancements in a way that stakeholders can help influence and support decision making, whilst continually improving ways of working
Monitoring and driving progress of IT Product Development and solutions across the product groups. Keeping stakeholders updated on progress and identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
Communicating at an expert level across all levels to ensure engagement and buy-in from stakeholders on all major decisions and strategy, as well as giving clear directions and deliverables for the solution development function in the Engineering team
What we're looking for
Knowledge of an IT Product Area
Knowledge of Solution Design and Test
Knowledge of Actuarial Systems
Experience in regulated industry ie. FCA, PRA is desirable
Knowledge of the management and change associated with Product development in an IT / Engineering operation
Experience of working closely with and influencing project sponsors and project teams to understand the implications of options in relations to developing solutions
Experience of Waterfall and Agile delivery paradigms
Experience with BI solutions (Tableau, PowerBI or similar), SQL Server or Oracle with SSIS or other ETL tools is desirable
Thought leader on solutions, able to paint a compelling image of the future IT capability and its desirability
Ability to coach, mentor and guide product teams
