Healthcare Assistant required

Are you Healthcare Assistant with experience in primary care who is looking for an exciting new role in our vibrant city centre practice? If so, this may be the role for you! We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join us on a fixed term contract, in our practice based in the vibrant Brighton area.

About The Role

Working under the supervision of the clinical team, you would assist the practice in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. You would be conducting new patient health checks, undertaking wound dressings, phlebotomy, conducting blood pressure testing and ECGs on a regular basis. Additionally you would administer various injections including flu jabs and vitamin B12 boosters. These duties also involve related administration including management of stock, laboratory samples and vaccines. A key part of the role is developing a relationship with patients. You would need to discuss health problems with them, offering advice for dietary needs, smoking and alcohol. Using this information, you would be able to assist in assessment of their wellbeing and promote health awareness. You may also be required to act as a chaperone, should a patient request it. All of the above would also involve accurate data input, medical record keeping, summarising records and other data processing. There will be an expectation, due to the nature of general practice, that a degree of flexibility will be required & that other tasks or roles may be delegated to you, in line with your abilities & knowledge, as dictated by the needs of the service. Training will be provided in various areas to expand your responsibilities, making this role a great development opportunity.

About You

You will be an experienced Healthcare Assistant with a minimum of Level 2 Health & Social Care NVQ or equivalent. You will be confident in working with the public and providing health. It is essential that you have some experience in primary or secondary care. Experience in phlebotomy, health checks and diabetes/glucose testing would be beneficial but not essential, as training can be provided.
