SLD Autism Specialist Teacher for Young Adults
St. John’s College, Brighton
8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Mon-Fri
£28,000- £33,000.00, depending on experience.
This position is to start ASAP on an interim contract up to one year in duration, further opportunities may be available thereafter. (part-time teaching arrangement maybe considered)
We are looking for a versatile teacher who has the skills to teach a range of subjects but holds a particular specialism working with young people who have Severe Learning Difficulties, to join our vibrant college community in the heart of Brighton. You will need the skills to teach across our cohort i.e., pre-entry level to level 2 and to help improve independance and quality of life for young people with learning disabilities. This is an opportunity to make a real difference, to work with some extraordinary young people with additional needs and to inspire them to be the very best they can be.
This role will see you plan and deliver lessons that are good to outstanding, identifying individual learning objectives to ensure that learners are stretched to meet their full potential. You will have high expectations of learners, and effectively track their progress and assess the impact of your teaching. You will deliver practical life and functional skills with a strong focus on developing effective communication skills to meet learner needs, interests and aspirations. You will be required to deliver accreditation at Entry level and meet the quality assurance standards of Awarding Bodies and Autism Accreditation with support from colleagues.
