Tate are delighted to be working with a local authority looking to recruit a Payments Assistant to join their team in Brighton. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team who aim to make a difference to peoples everyday lives and have a direct impact on the financial well-being of individuals, small businesses and large corporations who provide services to the city of Brighton.
To maintain and operate systems for the payment of invoices for goods and services provided by the department including appropriate data entry.
To process invoices for payment ensuring that they are properly authorised and correctly coded in accordance with the accounting system.
To liaise with colleagues and suppliers to resolve errors and omissions, over payments, and disputes.
To provide clerical assistance to the central payments team including word processing, filing, archiving, and sorting the daily post.
To photocopy or scan and index documents as required.
Key skills and Experience
A basic knowledge of data processing using a computerised system.
Good PC/keyboard skills including experience in the use of word processing and spreadsheet software.
To have good customer care skills
To be numerate and financially aware.
To have a good level of communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to work well as a team member
Ability to work quickly and accurately to deadlines.
Ability to maintain accurate filing systems
