Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Sports Centre Leisure Duty Manager Apprentice on a full-time, fixed term basis for 18 months. In return you will receive £8.50 per hour for the first year. Then National Minimum Wage for age/National Living Wage for the remaining six months of the contract.
The Sports Centre Leisure Duty Manager Apprentice Role
You will work as part of a friendly and supportive team in our inspiring and exciting School of Science and Sport, featuring a range of world-class sports facilities. By joining us as an apprentice you will work to obtain a Level 3 Leisure Duty Manager qualification, whilst also gaining a wealth of skills and experience in the leisure industry.
Responsibilities of our Sports Centre Leisure Duty Manager Apprentice will include:
Provide a professional and friendly welcome to all users.
Promote and provide an environment that is clean, safe and comfortable for all users.
Ensure timetabled sessions are set up and cleared away promptly.
Lifeguard swimming pool sessions and supervise dry-side sports activities (subject to successfully completing the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification).
Take pupil registers.
Cleaning duties as required on a day to day basis to achieve the highest standards of presentation, supported by the Cleaning team.
Conduct regular building patrols to ensure cleanliness and safe use of facilities.
Manage and operate the swimming pool plant in accordance with the Operating Manuals to ensure appropriate dosing of the pool to maintain water quality.
Assist with the supervision of contractors with respect to health and safety, safeguarding, access and compliance documentation.
Be familiar with the College’s Health & Safety Policy and its application to all site facilities.
Any other reasonable management request.
What we are looking for in our Sports Centre Leisure Duty Manager Apprentice:
If you do not already hold the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) we will pay for the postholder to complete this qualification. You will therefore need to have the ability to swim. The criteria for this is:
At least 16 years of age at the start of the course.
Able to swim a minimum of 100 metres on your back and front continuously.
Able to swim 50 metres in 60 seconds.
Able to dive to a depth of 3 metres.
Able to swim efficient breaststroke and have some knowledge of sidestroke.
Customer-focused with a passion for providing exceptional service.
Driven and enthusiastic.
Be able to play an active role as part of a team.
Be able to work effectively unsupervised and complete set tasks.
Be able to use own initiative and have a can-do attitude.
Be self-motivated, with the ability to manage and organise own time and resources effectively ensuring deadlines are met.
Be flexible and respond to programme changes as required.
Be a good communicator.
Able to follow Brighton College’s Policies and Procedures.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
