Sussex Teachers are working with a large community primary in Brighton to find a Year 6 class teacher for the summer term. This diverse and inclusive local authority school are looking for an experienced KS2 teacher to join their friendly staff team after Easter 2023.
Four-form entry, this school has a great reputation and attracts pupils from across Brighton and Hove. With a higher-than-average population of students with EAL the school is proud of its rich and multicultural community. Creating an environment where learning is an adventure; pupils achieve well in reading, writing and Maths and their teachers have high aspirations for their pupils. Children enjoy experiences such as Dance at the Dome, and Children’s parade and they have their very own flock of chickens to care for! Based in central Hove, a short walk from the train station and close to regular bus routes, the school is ideally located for teachers who use public transport.
You will be teaching a class of 30 children a broad and exciting curriculum. The class are diverse, with around a third of pupils who speak English as an Additional Language. Some children also have SEND, so experience working with ADHD, dyslexia and attachment difficulties would be advantageous. After SATs, the summer term involves a residential outdoor residential trip, as well as taking part in their exciting end-of-year assembly.
You will be supported by an experienced and inspirational year group Leader and a further 2 Year 6 colleagues to develop tailored lesson plans. You will also be supported in class by a teaching assistant in the mornings who can deliver outside interventions and support with behaviour in class. As this role involves planning and assessment, the school are happy to pay you “to scale”, and you will receive non-contact planning, preparation, and assessment (PPA) time of 10%.
