We are looking for an Assistant Accountant with bookkeeping experience to join our expanding accountancy practice located in Brighton. Our work is varied and interesting and we provide a friendly, flexible and proactive all year-round service to small businesses and individuals in the local area. This is not a role that can offer HYBRID working.
* Proficient in Quickbooks, Xero, Dext and Kashflow
* Preferably ICB/AAT qualified and /or part-qualified in ACA/ACCA
* Preferably some experience of work and willingness to learn
Main duties:
* Managing accounts production liaising with clients and outsourced accounts production staff
* Manage VAT Compliance liaising with clients
* Setting up accounting/bookkeeping systems and training with clients as needed
* Managing bookkeeping function
* Operate Practice Management software TaxCalc and Ignition/ Bookkeeping on accounting software e.G. Quickbooks online, Xero, Sage desktop and online, Excel etc.
* Payroll and Auto-enrolment pensions (experience an advantage but not essential as this is predominantly an accounts based role)
* Tax return preparation
* Compliance work
* Liaison with regulatory/government agencies e.G. HMRC, Companies House, Pension providers, and clients
* Office Administration
* Clients onboarding and other duties specific to an accountant's office
This is an office based role in Hove
* IT and Accounting software proficiency
* Relevant qualifications and experience/ Willingness to learn quickly
* Good confident communicator
* Motivated
* Familiarity with HMRC, Companies House, and other regulatory websites
Proactive and able to work without supervision
