Supplier Quality Engineer
A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join a market leading engineering company who specialise providing high end niche products to premium brands based in East Sussex.
The role is commutable from Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne and surrounding areas.
They are market leaders in what they do and are offering an exciting opportunity for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join them on their continued journey to success and lead supplier development throughout the company. The company are undergoing some changes and are about to start a brand new exciting project which the senior supplier quality engineer will become a part of in the growth phase.
The Supplier Quality Engineer will come from a previous SQE role, ideally within automotive, aerospace products/similar industry who holds a strong understanding of problem solving.
Supplier Quality Engineer Responsibilities
The role of the Supplier Quality Engineer will involve:
Proactive & reactive supplier improvement activities, including problem resolution of parts quality issues using 8D and other automotive industry tools
Management of supplier quality performance, including verification and implementation of corrective actions in the pre-series phase
Analysing Supplier performance and manage and monitor the supplier complaint system to record issues.
Complete 8D’s reports and analysis
Conduct audits to assess suppliers against requirements and travel internationally to achieve this
Develop and maintain strong supplier rapport and work together to sort issues regarding quality
Supporting the global supplier sourcing process
Promote quality improvements throughout the company
Work towards lean manufacturing, reducing waste and costs.
Supervise and coach SQE’s in the team also involved in projects
Liaise with other departments including purchasing and design
Supplier Quality Engineer Requirements:
Problem solving ability – 8D analysis
Knowledge of ISO9001
Degree preferable but not essential
Experience of NPI
Strong engineering/manufacturing background
Someone who has previously worked on advanced, high tech components, ideally within an electro-mechanical environment
Lean manufacturing/Six sigma knowledge with proven track record of implementing/leading projects
Willing to travel to the Far East
Exposure in dealing with, managing and developing core supplier relationships
Ability to document and record all quality information
To work as part of a small team and be motivated to enhance the company’s current quality standards as well act as a mentor
